Spherical plain bearings are complete bearing units that can accommodate tilting, rotational and oscillatory movement.
The normal steel-on-steel configuration consists of an inner and outer ring having spered contact surfaces of hardened and ground steel treated with molyhdenum disulphide (MoS2). This surface treatment provides optimum operating properties under severe conditions and permits maintenance free operation in many aplications.
These bearings are particularly suitable for applications where heavy loads, alternating in direction, must be transmitted.
Spherical plain bearings are also available with the outer ring lined with suntered bronze inpregnated with PTFE. These are used where long long life and operation without lubrication are required.
GBC stocks spherical plain bearings up to 120mm and 2 1/2 inch.
